After decades of fighting Turkish government, PKK announces dissolution

The Kurdistan Workers' Party has also decided to lay down its arms, following a call from its historic leader, Abdullah Ocalan, who has been imprisoned for 26 years on the prison island of Imrali, off the coast of Istanbul.

US and China agree to slash tariffs for 90 days

The US treasury secretary said the two sides both agreed to reduce tariffs by 115 percentage points, taking US tariffs to 30% and those by China to 10%. In a joint statement, the two sides agreed to 'establish a mechanism to continue discussions about economic and trade relations.'

Cannes 2025: Rebecca Zlotowski, the light and the ghosts

She burst onto the scene in 2010 with Belle Epine ('Dear Prudence'), a film that explored the death of a mother, a tragedy that marked her childhood and continues to haunt her films. At 45, she is one of the most prominent directors in French cinema. For her sixth feature, Vie privée ('Private Life'), which will be presented at the Cannes Festival, she succeeded in persuading American actress Jodie Foster to take on the lead role.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict resonates at the Cannes Film Festival
